Hi I listen to Hebrew radio quite a bit, and a lot of the presenters open a conversation with "Shalom l'kha" it sounds like.
I guess this is "hello to you?", but I only know "ata" and "at" for singular "you". If I am correct, in Hebrew is it:
שלום לחה?
I guess this is to a single person, and that to a group of people it would be Shalom l'khem?
Your help much appreciated!
Another thing I hear a lot, and cannot work out, is "shaleim" or something similar (it may be the end of a longer word) - I think it is something to do with politics, as it often appears with ממשלה (government).
I believe the phrase is שלום לך literally 'peace to you'. It is the preposition ל with the masculine singular pronoun ending ך

I think you mean "שרים" which שַׂר is a minister.

No, I think I've just worked it out - is it Jerusalem? I thought it was pronounced "Yer-oo-shal-i-yim" but it sounds (if I am right) more like Yer-oo-shal-yme - I was only hearing the "shal-yme" bit.
I think I can recognise שר as it is a "s" not a "sh".

It does sound more like ח though - I always thought כ was a harder sound, like our "k". My language course suggests that כ and ק sound almost identical, hence my assumption that "nakhon" used ח.

Listening to it now (the IRC toolbar is really useful), but missed this bit - I'll listen harder. I'm almost sure it is though - I heard it on Galei Tzahal (translation?) earlier with Haifa in the same sentence, so I'm sure it is Jerusalem.

כ with a dot has more sound like a "K" with out it'll sound more like "ח"
ex : כנסת = Sound like a K
כפר = Same thing
יכול = Sound more like ח
מכירה Same thing
That's why Nikhood really helps at the beginning...
